What a garage door service involves

We inspect the door and its operating system, look for wear and carry out maintenance appropriate to the door type and condition. A service is also an opportunity to explain any parts that need attention and discuss the next step.

• Check the condition of springs, lifting cables and supporting hardware.
• Inspect rollers, hinges, guides or tracks, and accessible fixings.
• Assess door movement, alignment and balance.
• Check the opener, travel settings, safety features and remote operation where fitted.
• Lubricate suitable components and make appropriate adjustments.

If a fault needs replacement parts or further repair work, we explain the options. A routine service price is not a quote to replace damaged components.

Service or repair: which booking do you need?

Choose servicing when the door is operating and needs preventative maintenance or a tune-up. A snapped spring, loose cable, impact damage or a door hanging unevenly should be treated as a repair enquiry. Tell us what has changed so we can plan the right visit.

If the door has become unsafe or unstable, stop operating it and keep the area clear.

How often should you book?

Use the maintenance schedule for your particular door and motor as the starting point. Frequency also depends on daily use, age, condition and exposure. Our annual service option gives you a regular opportunity to have the system checked; some installations may need attention sooner.

You do not need to wait for a scheduled service if the door starts making a new noise, moving unevenly or struggling to travel.
